Associate Professor
Department of Chemistry

Dr Lu joined NUS as an Assistant Professor in 2015 after his Postdoctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley. His team conducts interdisciplinary research on low-dimensional materials for optoelectronic, energy and environmental related applications. He aims to understand and control the chemical and physical processes – from the atomic to the macroscopic scale, for creating novel functional materials and devices.

His lab is dedicated to the synthesis of single-atom and superatom catalysis for CO2 fixation and uses their low-temperature qPlus-based atomic force microscopy for in-situ imaging of chemical reactions atsingle atomic bond level. The scanning tunneling microscope (STM) and non-contact atomic force microscopy (nc-AFM) offer the unique capability of exploring the local electronic and magnetic properties of individual atomic and molecular nanostructures at surfaces.
